NEW EDITION
LATE-SEPTEMBER 2008 Now in its fourth edition the
unique UK Cereals
Industry Wall Map from Agri-Food Market Analysis has been fundamentally
revised to reflect major changes in the industry since the previous edition
in 2004.
The compilers have set out to name and classify over
800 businesses
involved in grain handling and processing in the UK. These include 250 animal feed
production sites, 60 pet food production sites, 117 cereal
mills and 278 merchants/traders and grain stores. Other categories include maltings, grain
whisky distilleries, oilseed crushing mills, grain-selling farmer
co-operatives, seed
breeding and research centres and, for the first time, biofuel
plants. All ports exporting cereals are named and classified
by volume.
Smaller inset maps show the distribution of all 27,000
cereals farms and the varying density of wheat, barley, oats and oilseeds
production across the UK.
The
background of the main map shows counties and other
administrative areas as an aid to placing businesses in their geographical
context.
